Purchasing Manager – Automotive Experience

Responsibilities

  • Develop, lead and execute purchasing strategies.
  • Develop and Manage contracts and Service Agreements.
  • Track and report key functional metrics to reduce expenses and improve effectiveness.
  • Craft negotiation strategies and close deals with optimal terms.
  • Partner with stakeholders to ensure clear requirements documentation.
  • Forecast price and market trends to identify changes of balance in buyer-supplier power.
  • Seek and partner with reliable vendors and suppliers.
  • Work in partnership with Supply Chain Manager.
  • Leading a small team, developing and implementing purchasing strategy for both production and non-production commodities.
  • Monitoring supplier performance, including conducting supplier site audits.
  • Reviewing forecasts, plans and resources to ensure the needs of the business are met.
  • Creating and developing strategy as well as still being able to support suppliers & customers directly.
  • Introducing rigorous cost down and control measures to increase the efficiency of the business.
  • Ensuring Quality, Delivery and total cost targets are honored within a continuous improvement environment.

Requirements

Strategic & Technical

  • Professionally recognized purchasing qualification (MCIPS).
  • Credibility at a senior level, with presence at a board level.
  • Knowledge of Automotive Industry and OE experience would be advantageous.
  • Background in procurement strategy.
  • Low volume automotive experience preferred but not essential.
  • Excellent negotiation skills and the ability to lead key negotiations at a senior level.
  • Experience of delivering cost efficiencies with supplier’s relationship management.
  • Extensive experience managing complex supplier and organizational relationships managing resources.
  • A strong leader, able to inspire and motivate a team.
  • Ability to lead cross functional teams within a matrix environment.
  • Able to shape projects and secure resources.
  • Ability to build informal authority and influence key decision makers.
  • Confidence to manage budgets and undertake financial forecasting.
  • Excellent communication, presentational and interpersonal skills.
  • Meticulous attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated and proactive, enjoy working under pressure.
  • Ability to lead cross functional teams within a matrix environment.
